Elysium Healthcare has a network of 22 sites strategically placed across England and Wales.
Our Occupational Therapist role involves:
- Co-ordinating the timetable on the unit with the support of Clinical Psychologist and senior nursing staff
- Assessing the provision of activities and groups and identify necessary changes to timetable as they are required.
- Facilitating groups as required.
- Ensuring continuous improvement by evaluating the effectiveness and communicate any relevant information with the nurse in charge.
- Attending the multidisciplinary meeting each week, and wherever necessary assist in any documentation required, as well as share ideas.
- Managing activities expenditure ensuring activities are costed within budgetary constraints
- Providing specific individual assessments of young people where it is identified by the multi-disciplinary team as necessary. To work with Senior Therapeutic Care Workers to ensure the organisation of activities for young people, including weekend and evening activities.
- Keeping abreast of developments within Occupational therapy practise and explore how these can benefit the working of the multi-disciplinary team.
- Complying with the Company Appraisal system and attend an appraisal every year.
Administrative
- To understand the importance of and to ensure that all clinical and legal documents are completed accurately.
- To take an active role in maintaining effective communication with all professionals involved with the care and management of the patient group
- To prepare clinical reports as required
Professional Development
- To regularly participate in supervision, and to attend staff training and teaching as required.
- To work within the HCPC professional code of conduct at all times.
- To be responsible for self-development through professional and managerial appraisal systems.
General
- To carry out any other duties and responsibilities that may reasonably be required from the post holder.

Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Teaching
- Participate in the existing clinical audit and research programmes within Rhodes Wood Hospital, assisting in the monitoring of clinical outcomes.
Education and Training
- Ensure updated mandatory training requirements are met.
- Participate in internal training programs, and continue with job training as required.
- Keep up to date with changing practices in consultation with the service manager, and make full use of relevant training opportunities and educational facilities for self-development.
- Contribute to the provision of a learning environment for staff undergoing training.
To be successful as Occupational Therapist, you’ll need:
Qualifications and Education
- Diploma in Occupational Therapy or BSc in Occupational Therapy Registered with the Health Professions Council (essential)
- Attendance at postgraduate courses providing specialist knowledge or experience in psychological therapies, and /or Eating Disorders (desirable)
Skills and Knowledge
- Good oral and written communication skills (essential)
- Ability to facilitate groups and evaluate their effectiveness (essential)
- Knowledge of research design, conduct and analysis (essential)
- Able to interact appropriately with clients, relatives and carers (essential)
- Understands professional standards and limits of competence (essential)
- Able to acquire a knowledge of the relevant literature (essential)
- Ability to undertake functional assessment techniques and clinical interventions (essential)
- Knowledge of sensory integration (desirable)
- Knowledge of MOHO (desirable)
Experience
- Word processing skills (essential)
